The Two Groups are Together Again

The day was the 25th of August.  Spicer's ship--the ship with the other half of the colonists on it-- was abandoned.  It wasn't just left in an ocean.  It was left in Spanish waters.  The captain had never seen, nor been to Roanoke Island.  It was a huge miracle when, by some chance, the ship found its way to that "evil" island.  They went ashore and were just full with joy that they were once again with their family and friends.  But not long after that, they were all worried again.  Yes, they were together, but how long would it be before they too, like the soldiers were killed?

They gathered little food, which was about as much as was there.

A colonist--George Howe--was searching for crabs as he waded through the water.  Later he was found dead in the water; he was facedown with sixteen Secota arrows protruding from his back.  He had left his son, George Howe Jr., behind that day.  Who had to tell his son what had happened to his father? Who was it that had to tell him that Lane was the one that had murdered Pemisipan and so many of his people and that now the colonists that had just arrived had to pay the price of what he had done?  Maybe it was John White.  Most likely.  These colonists were innocent.  Why would they have to deal with the consequences of Ralph Lane's crimes?
